Affirmations for Intention Setting in 2020

January's coming up. The first month of the year always gets me in the mood to restart and refresh. There's something about 2020 that feels good to me. It feels flexible, changeable, like I can set the tone for the year by intentionally affirming who I want to be, what I want to attract into my life, and how I want to grow.

2019 was perhaps my most challenging, and yet rewarding and revealing year yet. I was pregnant last January, in February I gave birth to my daughter Symone, then I spent the next few months recovering and adjusting to mom life, which tests me in new ways every day. Regaining my professional confidence after giving birth has been a struggle. I'm a different woman now that I'm a mom and a wife, but ultimately, I think I've only become more truly myself. When you're responsible for another life, there's no wiggle room for responsibility and accountability, two areas of my life which I think I struggled with early on in my journey. When a baby is looking at you as the ultimate example of how to be a woman, you start taking responsibility for your thoughts, feelings, and actions.

Now that the year is coming to a close, I can see that 2019 organized me like an untidy file cabinet. The process felt long and uncomfortable, boring, small and routine and yet so much growth was taking place!
